Texas Dietitians Take the Lead


TDA offers its most sincere congratulations to the following award recipients for 2012! All awards listed here were selected or awarded by TDA and/or The Academy. For other honors, please see our Member Achievements page.

It is an honor and a high achievement to be nominated for a TDA Award. We congratulate the following members who have been named award recipients for 2012.

Outstanding Dietetic Educator
This award honors one outstanding educator from each CADE-approved dietetics education program: Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), Dietetic Internship/Pre-professional Practice Program (DI), Coordinated Program (CI), and Dietetic Technician Program (DTP).

Outstanding Dietetic Student

Registered Young Dietitian of the Year
This award recognizes the achievements of up to five outstanding young dietitians in Texas per year.

Emerging Dietetic Leader
This award was established by the 1996 ADA board of directors. It allows the Association to recognize new leaders within the profession without a chronological age criterion. Instead, this award uses length of practice as a criterion.

TDA Media Award
This award honors an outstanding individual that has made a positive impact on the promotion of nutrition and dietetics through the media.

Awarded to: Jan Tilley, MS, RD, LD

Texas Distinguished Dietitian
This is the highest honor bestowed on a member of the Texas Dietetic Association. It is designed to recognize and honor a Texas dietitian who has made outstanding and significant contributions to TDA as well as the profession of dietetics.

Awarded to: Claudia Conkin, MS, RD, LD

Bluebonnet Award
Recognizes a distinguished individual who is not a dietitian, who has made significant contributions to advance nutrition and dietetics in Texas.

Awarded to: Carla Jutson

Outstanding Nutrition Education Award
Recognizes a distinguished individual, who has made significant contributions to advance nutrition and dieteticsthrough non-traditional education in Texas.

Awarded to: Rosalind Benner, RD, LD

Recognized Dietetic Technician
This award recognizes the achievements of a dietetic technician in Texas.

Awarded to: Marisa Rendon
