Statewide Recognition of TDA

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry named Ahmed Osama Gaber of Houston as presiding officer of the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force and appointed 11 members. All will serve at the pleasure of the governor. The task force will develop recommendations for Texas health care professionals on the creation of more aggressive treatments for chronic kidney disease.

  • Gaber is director of transplantation for the Methodist Hospital Physician Organization. He received a medical degree from Ainshems University School of Medicine in Cairo .
   
  Carolyn R. Atkins RN
 
  • Carolyn R. Atkins of Dallas is a registered nurse and the renal transplant coordinator for Children's Medical Center of Dallas. She received a bachelor's degree from Texas Women's University.
   
  Louise Clement MS, RD, CSR, LD
 
  • Louise Clement of Lubbock is a renal dietitian with the South Plains Kidney Disease Center . She received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in nutrition from Texas Tech University.
   
  Robert L. Collazo-Maldonado
 
  • Robert L. Collazo-Maldonado of Irving is a nephrologist with Dallas Nephrology Associates. He received a bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico , and a fellowship in nephrology from the University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine.
   
  Lisa Genna
  • Lisa Genna of Austin is the operations branch manager for the Purchased Health Services Unit at of the Texas Department of State Health Services. She received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in health education from Texas State University.
   
  Rita L. Littlefield
  • Rita L. Littlefield of Austin is a founding member of the Texas Renal Coalition. She has been an advocate for the prevention of kidney disease for more than 10 years.
   
  Elena Longoria-Marin
  • Elena Longoria-Marin of Brownsville is a practicing physician and executive director of Su Clinica Familia. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston School of Pharmacy and a medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine.
   
  Jayaram B. Naidu
  • Jayaram B. Naidu of Odessa is a physician in private practice. He received a medical degree from Guntur Medical College in India.
   
  Marolyn W. Stubblefield
  • Marolyn W. Stubblefield of San Antonio is regional vice president of the National Kidney Foundation. She received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's of business administration from Our Lady of the Lake University.
   
  Smita Vaidya
  • Smita Vaidya of Houston is a professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch . She received a bachelor's degree from Gujarat University in India, a master's degree in physics from the University of North Carolina and a master's degree in molecular biology from Texas Women's University.
   
  Susan S. Wiggans
  • Susan S. Wiggans of Bellaire is a genomic/esoteric test specialist for Quest Diagnostics. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch.
   
  Marinan R. Williams
 
  • Marinan R. Williams of Belton is the chief operating officer for Scott and White Health Plan. She received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a master's degree in healthcare from Texas Women's University.
